The Discovery Region Edersee is an absolute Mecca for hikers. What could be better than practising the art of this gentle, attractive "sport", which is suitable for all ages by the way, in a delightful landscape? You hike in the midst of the Nature Park Kellerwald-Edersee and are also able to traverse across the National Park Kellerwald-Edersee. In the realm of the simple beech tree, you will discover a unique and lush landscape of beeches, the like of which cannot be found anywhere else in Germany.

A well-marked network of circular and through paths reveals the special delights of water, mountains, valleys and unspoilt forests to you. The spectacular "Kellerwaldsteig" (156 km) and the "Urwaldsteig Edersee" (68 km) are certified quality hiking paths. You are also welcome to go it alone using the well-signposted routes and the relevant hiking map. But you might also like to join one of the numerous "discover nature trails" in the Nature and National Park with lots of information on things to see and worth knowing. A clear guide to the Nature Park and National Park displays the many attractions on offer. Besides all that, it is incredibly exciting to be out and about exploring with a National Park Ranger or a Nature Park Guide.
Urwaldsteig Edersee

As well as spectacular views across the unrivalled forest and lake scenery, around the Edersee also provides you with deep insights into the history of the geology and landscape. Hike through the last of the virgin forests which are amongst the most spectacular forests in Germany and Western Europe. The Urwaldsteig's main route is 68 kilometres long.  more...
Kellerwaldsteig

The aim of the 156 km Kellerwaldsteig is to bring the hiker into much closer proximity with the rich diversity and unique beauty of the region. All attractions in the 400-square-kilometer Nature Park and National Park Kellerwald-Edersee nestling at its centre. can be found along the hiking trail.
